Breaking The Factory Setting

My story probably sounds very familiar to yours.

Ever since I can remember I was told these exact steps are what I'm "supposed to do" in order to live a happy and successful life financially: go to college, graduate within four years, get a job and then max out my 401(k) with the same company so I can have a cushy retirement by the age of 65. Right?

But what everyone fails to mention: the byproduct of this "right way" is a mountain of (bad) debt, financial ignorance, and most importantly, no ownership.

This default financial path is one that will keep you trapped as a slave forever. That's not by accident, that's by design.

The modern school system is engineered to produce obedient workers, not owners. Which is why after over 20 years of higher education, you were taught how to write a résumé, but not a financial statement or tax codes.

This is why the doctor making $250,000 a year can still be broke. Because they never learned money.

I'm going to break it down simply. If you want to be rich, then you have to switch from being a consumer to an owner. The rich own more assets than liabilities. That's the Rich Recipe.

Prioritize buying assets over liabilities.

Simply put, I like to describe an asset as anything that puts money in your pocket and a liability as anything that takes money out of your pocket.

Pause and take inventory of your life. Do you own anything that's generating money outside of your job? What's taking money out of your pocket every month? Or simply not growing in value over time?

The answer to these questions marks the beginning of a life of true financial freedom.

The rich have a recipe and this is a key ingredient.
