"We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret." - Jim Rohn
Commit To Your Season
The internet can't agree. One side says grind 24/7 or get left behind. The other says protect your peace and stop hustling for a boss who won't remember your name.
Here's the thing. Both sides are right. Just about different seasons.
There's a time to go all in. Nights, weekends, saying no to almost everything. I've been there. Almost a year ago to the day I took what the internet called "The Great Lock In" extremely serious, and personal. For practically 6 months straight I did nothing but work. Wake up at 5:30 am to clock in to my part-time job with Delta Airlines from 7am- 12pm. Get home around 1pm. Shower, eat, and then work on building my business from 2pm until around 9pm. Go to sleep and do it all again the next day. Every day. For 6 months straight.
There's a saying that it only takes 6 months of extreme focus to change your life forever and whoever said it, is absolutely right. Im proof.
No sex. No parties. No distractions- financially, emotionally, or anything otherwise, is all it takes.
But a sacrifice season only works when you can answer three questions.
1. What am I building?
Not "more money." Something specific. A business. A portfolio. Your first $100k. If you can't name it, you're not sacrificing. You're just tired.
2. What is it costing me?
Be honest. Time with family. Your health. Your Sundays. Write it down. Sacrifice you can't see is sacrifice you can't control.
3. When does it end?
This is the one nobody asks. A season has an end date. A lifestyle doesn't.
In The Rich Recipe, I talk about the Time Wealth Ladder. Level 1 is trading your time for money. Level 4 is owning your time completely. The grind is how you climb from Level 1 to Level 2. It was never meant to be where you live.
If you're still grinding the same way five years from now, the season didn't end.
It became your life.
Grind with a purpose. Grind with a deadline. Then go buy your time back.
Recipe Reflections
What am I building right now, and when do I expect this season to end?
What am I sacrificing that I'm not willing to keep sacrificing past that date?
The rich have a recipe and this is a key ingredient.
